Well developed characters - I am ready for the next one!
This was the first book I read this summer. Now that I'm finished, I can't find anything new to read that compares to the story, characters and variety of She Rox. Knowing nothing about the music industry beforehand, I felt like an insider as I got to know the personalities and style of each individual in the book and learned to appreciate how real music is made. Sometimes I laughed out loud, other times I curled up in a suspenseful ball reading page after page as I anticipated each chapter.
The song lyrics are beautiful and unique, flowing with the emotions of Eddie, the band and the two men in her life. I eagerly await the next book and recommend She Rox to anyone wanting a captivating, flowing story about a real all girl band and their struggle to make it big.
This is a wonderful story of a young musical prodigy who is classically trained but chooses to pursue a career in rock and roll. Eddie's family is upper crust and do not agree with her decision. They cut her off and she moves to LA to study music and join a band. A brilliant writer and a great book. Cannot wait for the next installment.
Total surprise! I'm not a musician, but got sucked in in the first chapter. Love triangle with a guitar. Who knew? Very powerful story of a girl (16) who makes bold decisions and experiences life in an LA musicians's world, where it's unheard of to disagree with what's popular. Eddie is her own kind of person who skillfully uses knowledge and talent to survive the cats and the dogs. Love, love, love all the witty dialogue. Looking forward to book 2.
Great story, only one problem this is the beginning of a series. The biggest problem of this is that this was written several years ago so it is not very likely that anymore installments are going yo be written that is why I only gave it 2 stars. The story was a great beginning, however apparently the author did not feel the need to complete the story.
If you are going to write a series write the series don't do the first installment and then call it quits just very bad form. If more of the story was being produced I would have given the story a much higher rating, this just left me with a very unsatisfied feeling however.
Love this book.
